22nd July 2023 – FFF Fundraising Day at Meon Springs
The Perfect Cast
Saturday 22nd July at Meon Springs Trout Fishery
The day started overcast but lots of big fish spotted in both lakes. A superb show of support by many of our regulars and pleasing to see quite a few new supporters for FFF.
The bacon rolls were demolished and at 09.00 it was game on with a couple of new twists to the day.
Neil Mundy decided that we would change from pegged places to stalking mode at 12.00 and more fish were caught than we could imagine so that stays in the new schedule for the day.
Another great innovation set up by Greg and his team was the Accuracy Casting and Distance Casting competitions that had great attendance and tested the skills of many and raised an excellent sum so well done lads.
Promptly at 12.00 the heavens opened with a heavy downpour and wind gusts but It did not deter any of the competitors who steadfastly battled on until the whistle blew at 14.00 then it was grub up in the Barn and the atmosphere was great. The heavy rain continued all through lunch which was superb and continued until late evening as most of those in the SOE will know.
The raffle and auction raised a substantial sum thanks to Neil’s blagging skills and the generosity of all who took part and the Bargain table also raised quite a bit with many happy faces checking their goodies before they headed for home.
A stunning amount of over 6k raised with the auction, raffle and bargain the table.
A special thanks to the Mundy family, Neil, Stephanie, Lynne and Tim for all their assistance in many different roles.
